Vacation III

So - I think this may be the last post from this summer's vacation...

One of the famous areas up north is the "Lyngsalpene". If you're into winter climbing or crazy powder skiing - this is the place to go!

The season for growing stuff up here is pretty short. I don't remember much from my biology class, but it seems like stuff here is a lot greener than down south. Maybe it's got something to do with the midnight sun?

Another famous place is North Cape. To get there we had to drive across part of Finnmarksvidda, Norway's largest mountain plateau covering an area greater than 22,000 km². It's an easy place to fall asleep while driving...

North Cape is often referred to as the northernmost point of Europe. It's located about 2100 km from the North Pole. When you think about it, that's not so far!

The northern part of Norway doesn't see that much sun during the summer. Yes, they've got midnight sun, but it's usually hiding behind the clouds! We ended up having the best weather ever, and it was even warm. Two Danish guys standing next to us taking pictures said it was winning a lottery. (Picture taken at 11:56 pm).

The midnight sun provides a very fascinating light! This pictures was taken at 03:30 am.

These pictures are truly amazing! I have always wanted to get a shot like the one you took of the tree's. So simple, so repetitions, but so beautiful!

I love your pictures Joar. The midnight sun is so much brighter than it is in Skotselv. You would never know that it was night time.
