“Do you like rock?”
The question came from Lars Henrik as we watched skateboard videos on Youtube. Lars Henrik is the oldest son of one of my cousins.
Friday afternoon my cousin called me and asked if I could take some pictures of her son at the skate park. He needed a picture for the new wallpaper in his room. We decided to go shoot some stuff on Saturday night.
Lars Henrik was all excited in the car. This kid can’t sit still… He has enough energy to light up a house, and Duracell should seriously consider using him in an advertisement. So great was the disappointment as we pull up to the skate park just in time to see the last kids walk out the door. My cousin talked to the person in charge, who decided to be nice and let us in for 5 minutes. Not a success… None of the jumping pictures turned out and there is no “un-suck” filter that could fix them. But I did manage to get him to stand still long enough to get a portrait.
What to do? He really, really wanted an action shot… It was pitch-dark outside, no streetlights, and all I had was the useless pop-up flash – and my cousin’s car. After trying a few different tings we finally found something that worked. That tiny, useless pop-up flash surprised me…!
